The backside, Chair 3 and 4, remained closed Wednesday for snow safety
and are planned to open with fresh terrain Thursday.

"On SAT January 6 2007, REI and Kirkwood will be hosting "Winter
Trails Day", a nation wide event with the goal of exposing the public
to snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Free snowshoe demos will be
available throughout the day. A variety of snowshoe manufacturers will
be there, including; Tubbs, Redfeather, MSR and Atlas. Snowshoeing has
a short learning curve. In a few steps, one can be an expert. Which
means anyone can join in on the fun of the Winter Trails Day. All you
have to do is show up and we'll guide you into becoming an ardent
snowshoer. There will also be various seminars offered throughout the
day. Seminars will include avalanche safety and beacon use, GPS
introductions and snowshoe tours. The day will be filled with things
to do and learn. REI will host a booth specializing in their outerwear
and what the latest is in winter wear.
What could be better than free?
Kirkwood will be offering FREE beginning cross country ski lessons.
This free package will include lesson, equipment rental and trail
pass. The lesson will be at 1:30pm, reservations are required.
